Ancestry

Ancestry is a free genealogy database that you have access to as a library visitor! Come into any North Perth Public Library and ask to use a public computer. On our library's computers, there is a shortcut on the desktop to give you easy, quick access to Ancestry. 

CBC Corner

This one-of-a-kind portal allows you to discover unique Canadian and local content including news, TV and radio shows, podcasts, kids content, a language learning app and much more!

Digital Archive Ontario

Access an entire database filled with local history! Access the Digital Archives of Ontario from wherever and on whatever device you have. Simply click on the link above and use the search bar to type in the location you are researching.

Driver's Manual

The online version of the Official Ministry of Transportation Driver’s Handbook for Ontario. Use this resource to study for your G1 driver’s licence, test your knowledge, and prepare for your Level 2 road test. Simply read through the resource, chapter by chapter.

No login necessary. You can access on any device at any point! Good luck!! 

Libby

Get access to thousands of emagazines, audiobooks and ebooks for free! 

You can access Libby through a phone, tablet, computer, or e-reader from anywhere, anytime. In order to get started, you must have an active NPPL library card and wifi. Books can be downloaded and accessed offline.

Otherwise, to login, use the following criteria to login: 

  • Library: PCIN – North Perth Public Library

  • Card Number: Library Card Number (no spaces)

  • PIN: Last 4 digits of phone number

Please note, your library card needs renewed every 2 years and the Overdrive app has been sunset in 2023. 

Merck Manual

The Merck Manuals are a comprehensive medical information source covering thousands of topics in all fields of medicine. 

You may access information for free, at anytime, in any location. Simply click on the link and decide which version matches you best between professional, consumer, or veterinarian. Then you can either search or browse through the resources. 

Pressreader

Get access to more than 7,000 publications of magazines and newspapers in different languages! You will need an active library card  and wifi to get started, then you can download and read offline too. 

 

Steps to get started

1) Click on "Pressreader" above

2) Click on "Sign in" in the top right

3) Click on "Library or Group" 

4) Search and select "Perth County Information Network" as the location/library

5) Enter your card number and pin (last 4 digits of your phone #)

6) Click "I agree..." and sign in!  

Pronunciator

Pronunciator is a database with a complete selection of languages to learn, including American Sign Language and Indigenous Languages. You will need an active library card to get in for free, but it can be accessed anywhere, anytime!

Steps to get started: 

1) Click on "Pronunciator" above

2) Enter your library card on the right panel of the centre of the screen, under library card #. 

3) Click on the green button that says "Instant Access" 

4) Select the language you currently speak, then the language you would like to learn.

5) Begin your learning! 

Teen Health & Wellness

Simply click on the link and begin exploring teen health and wellness. This is a full database covering both physical and mental health. There is no login or library card required and can be accessed readily. You can share a story or read other stories, ask a question or read other questions and answers and don't forget to visit the Calm Room.
